Everything you need to know before getting started
Everything you need to know before getting started
Essex Therapy currently operates as a private-pay practice.
We are actively pursuing in-network participation with:
• Aetna
• Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey
• UnitedHealthcare
In the meantime, families may be eligible to use out-of-network benefits. Upon request, we can provide a superbill for reimbursement.
We recommend contacting your insurance provider to verify your out-of-network speech therapy benefits.
A superbill is a detailed receipt that can be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement of therapy services.
Your superbill will include:
• Diagnosis code(s)
• Type of service provided
• Date of service
• Session length
• Provider information and credentials
Reimbursement varies by insurance plan.
We recommend asking your insurance company:
Do I have out-of-network benefits for speech therapy?
What percentage of services is reimbursed?
Is there a deductible?
Is preauthorization required?
If you need help understanding your benefits, we're happy to guide you.
Yes.
Private-pay services allow therapy to be personalized, flexible, and based on clinical need rather than insurance limitations.
Rates and payment policies will be reviewed during your initial consultation so you can make an informed decision before beginning services.
Essex Therapy offers flexible service options, including:
• In-home therapy
• Daycare and preschool visits
• Community-based sessions
• Teletherapy (when appropriate)
Together, we'll determine the setting that best supports your goals and needs.
Most therapy sessions range from 30–60 minutes, depending on age, attention, goals, and treatment recommendations.
Session frequency and duration are individualized to support meaningful progress.
Yes.
With parent or client permission, we regularly collaborate with teachers, school teams, physicians, psychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other professionals to support continuity across settings.
Essex Therapy provides services for:
• Infants and toddlers
• Preschool-aged children
• School-aged children
• Adolescents
If you're unsure whether your needs are a good fit, please reach out. We're happy to discuss your concerns and determine how we can help.
Yes.
We offer comprehensive speech and language evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults.
Evaluations may assess:
• Articulation and speech sound production
• Expressive and receptive language
• Social communication skills
• Executive functioning and communication-related skills
• Other areas of communication concern
Following the evaluation, you will receive a detailed written report, personalized recommendations, and guidance regarding next steps.
Many children benefit from private speech-language therapy even if they do not qualify for services through their school district or Early Intervention.
Private therapy allows us to address concerns based on clinical need and family priorities, helping children build communication skills that support success at home, in school, and in the community.
I would also move the entire insurance discussion to its own "Insurance & Fees" page eventually. Then on the FAQ page, keep only a short answer and link to the full page. That makes the website feel cleaner and more professional.
